Inclusion and diversity

Inclusion and diversity statement

The Local Organising Committee of IBS2022 is committed to creating an inclusive and respectful conference that invites participation from people of all races, ethnicities, cultural backgrounds, genders, ages, abilities, religions, and sexual orientations. We value diversity and strive to support a balanced cohort of delegates to promote rich discussion and dialogue, build stronger collaborations and networks, and to advance research and innovation in the field of biohydrometallurgy.

We are committed to increasing the diversity of our attendees, speakers, and sponsors at every stage of the conference – beginning with from abstract, during attendance and participation at the conference, and as post-conference dialogue continues. This is an ongoing process, and as a committee, we are seeking to develop practical strategies to support an inclusive and diverse conference environment.

As a delegate, we welcome your contributions to build a more diverse conference experience. Some ways you can assist:

– Recommending final speakers and conference session chairs;

– Forwarding calls for abstracts and registrations to relevant groups with the message that we are seeking to build an inclusive and diverse conference;

– Suggesting ways that the onsite conference experience can be more welcoming and supportive, free from intimidation and marginalisation; and,

– Sharing your ideas and best practices for how to realise this goal of inclusion and diversity.

We recognise that our conference and ongoing research efforts will benefit from the richness of a truly inclusive and diverse cohort. Please do not hesitate to contact the organising committee (ibs2022@csiro.au) if you have contributions or suggestions to build our Inclusion and Diversity policy.
